Activities 2016-17


1. The Department celebrates World Tourism Day Every Year in connection with World Tourism Day on 27th September the department  has conducted various inter collegiate literary and cultural competitions.


2. The Department  of Commerce & Tourism has taken up an Initiative to protect the Eco system as well as to preserve the Heritage Palaces in Hyderabad. The Department of Commerce & Tourism along with CMS Vatavaran, hosted “Heritage Walk.

3. The Commerce students were selected for   State Level Competitions in the field of Projects for Yuva tarangam 2016-2017  A.Y  held on 8.02.2017.

4. Real time exposure on Heritage Places in Hyderabad by M.Com (TTM) Students.

5. M.Com (TTM) students and faculty member Dr. J.Ratnaprabhaker participated in Jignasa Programme conducted by the Govt. of Telangana. As part of the programme the students acted as guides  for participants of Jignasa competition from 7.02.2017 to 11.02.2017  and guided the students by taking them around to places such as, Osmania University, Birla Planetarium, Salarjung Museum, Charminar and golkonda fort.

6. The Department Conducted a Guest lecture to bring awareness about Banking Operation Programmes  by Bombay Stock Exchange  on 07.02.2017. Mr. Santhosh Kumar, State Co-ordinator of BSE,  Explained about the employment opportunities in investment banking , Back office Operations through the  BSE and he also explained the ample opportunities to interact with experienced Senior Professionals at BSE and they also conducted a Aptitude Test.

Activities 2012-13

  • Our students participated in various Inter-collegiate and District level competitions and won several prizes.
  • The Department is conducting various literary, cultural and sports competitions in connection with World Tourism Day in September since 2007 onwards.
  • In 2008 our students participated in State and District Level Consumer awareness competitions and won 7 out of 18 District level cash prizes worth Rs. 14,000/- in connection with National Consumer Day.
  •   In 2009 our students participated in State and District Level Consumer awareness competitions and won 11 out of 18 District level cash prizes worth Rs. 21,000/- in connection with National Consumer Day.
  • In 2010 our students participated in State and District Level Consumer awareness competitions and won 11 out of 18 District level cash prizes worth Rs. 22,500/- in connection with National Consumer Day. Winners received the Prizes from Honorable Minister for Consumer Affairs Sri D.Sridher Babu.
  •  In 2011 our students participated in State and District Level Consumer awareness competitions and won 13 out of 18 District level cash prizes worth Rs. 28,500/- and 2 State Level Cash Prizes worth Rs. 8,000/- in connection with National Consumer Day. Winners received the Prizes from Honorable Minister for Consumer Affairs Sri D.Sridher Babu.
  •  Our students participated District Level Commerce Quiz competitions held at Begum pet Women’s Degree College and won 10 Prizes.

Other Highlights

 

COMMERCE LAB

  • The department established the new concept “commerce lab” in the year 2002.
  • It is of first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh Starting a laboratory for commerce students.
  • The commerce lab contains specimens of various instruments, products, documents, challans, forms, formats, and certificates, reports, related to commerce subject.
  • Practical will be conducted for commerce students where in filling up of various day to day commerce related forms and documents.
  • Documents like share certificates, Debenture Certificates, Bonds will be displayed and given to students for acquiring knowledge.
  • Applications, Forms and Policy Documents related to various insurance products of various insurance companies are displayed and given to students for their studies.
  • Applications, Unit certificates of various Mutual Funds are maintained for the study of students.
  • Applications and Certificates related to various banking products like deposits, loans and advances, other services are exhibited at commerce lab for students.
  • Applications and Certificates related to small savings (Postal saving) are exhibited to promote thrift among them.
  • Various Broachers and posters related to Consumer Awareness are displayed in commerce lab to bring awareness among student community.
  • Documents related to Foreign Trade are kept for study of students.
  • The concept Dematerialization of Stocks and its operation is explained to student for developing knowledge related to stock markets.
  •  To make the students understand about Foreign Exchange Rates and their fluctuations the department maintains Foreign Exchange of 35 countries displayed at lab for students.
  • Projects related to Small Scale Industries, Cottage and village industries and industries related to tiny sector are maintained in commerce lab to promote self employment and entrepreneurship among the students.
  • Documents, forms related to various self employments schemes sponsored by state and central governments are maintained to guide the needy students.
  • Various reports (AGMs, EGMs, and Annual Reports etc.) of Joint Stock Companies and Banks are regularly updated to understand the administration and working of companies by students.
  • Forms related to establishment of Sole Trader and Partnership firm are maintained by the lab for promoting entrepreneurship among student community.
  • Performa By-Laws are maintained by department for starting co-operative societies.
  • Commerce Lab maintains books, CD’s related to general knowledge, personality development, Dictionary of Commerce and Management which are useful for competitive examinations.
  •  Commerce Lab Guides the students in pursuing Higher Studies by maintaining various broachers and Hand-outs of reputed institutions.

 

CELEBRATION OF WORLD TOURISM DAY
(WEEK LONG PROGRAMME)

 

  • The Department of commerce and tourism is celebrates world tourism day on 27th September every year as part of academic activity.
  • As part of the celebrations we conduct inter collegiate literary, cultural competitions, around 400 students participate in various competitions. Academicians and Officials from various tourism departments are invited to take part in the celebrations.
  • Tourism students of the college are taken to the field visits during the celebrations.
  • Training in photography and videography is conducted among students as part of celebrations.  
  • Cultural programs i.e Skit, Drama, Mon-action and folk dances etc. are conducted in the week long Programme.

 

CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL CONSUMER DAY

  • Department organizes consumer club to bring awareness of consumer rights among students.
  • Department celebrates National Consumer Day on 24th December every year. 
  • On this Occasion the department conducts the various literary competitions. A rally is taken out with poster, banners and play cards to bring awareness on rights of Consumer in nearby areas.
  • Our students secured 7 out of 18 prizes worth Rs. 14,000/- in 2008 at State/District level competitions conducted by Government of  Andhra Pradesh
  • Our students secured 11 out of 18 prizes worth Rs. 23,000/- in 2009 at State/District level competitions conducted by Government of Andhra Pradesh.
  • In 2010 our students participated State and District Level Consumer Awareness Competitions and Won 11 out of 18 District Level Prizes worth Rs. 22,500/- .
  • In 2011 our students participated in State and District Level Consumer awareness competitions and won 13 out of 18 District level cash prizes worth Rs. 28,500/- and 2 State Level Cash Prizes worth Rs. 8,000/- in connection with National Consumer Day.
