The Department of Microbiology has organised an extension activity titled “Blood group testing”.  The B.Sc (Microbiology) students were the volunteers of the programme.  They have collected the samples from the students and have identified their blood groups.  The blood group cards were then given to the respective students.  Many staff members including the Principal also got their blood group determined.  This activity is primarily aimed at providing hands-on experience to the Microbiology students and at the same time benefitting the other students by way of giving the blood group cards.  By the end of the programme, certificates were given away to the volunteers.

Brief report

Outcome

The Microbiology students, who acted as volunteers have participated very enthusiastically.  They were professional in their approach and carried out the testing procedure very meticulously.  By the end of the programme they could gain could very good hands-on experience.

Brief report

The Department of Microbiology has organised a field trip for the students of final year Microbiology to the AP Diary, Lalapet, Hyd.  The field trip was aimed to enlighten students on the techniques involved in the milk production, production of dairy products, methods of preservation etc.

Outcome

The students became well aware of various techniques involved in milk production, dairy products, preservation etc.  5 students got the opportunity to undergo training at the institute and to do live projects in the AP dairy organisation.
