Teaching staff participated

Teaching staff from different Government, aided colleges, adopting CBCS pattern have participated in the workshop (Begumpet college, Reddy college, St.Francis college, Andhra Mahila Sabha, Giriraj College)

Brief report

“Knowledge is most useful when liberated and shared”.  The very reason behind organizing this workshop is this motto.   The system of present day education is rather dynamic....undergoing rapid changes and shifting more and more towards benefitting the student community.  At this juncture there is every need for the teaching community to exchange ideas and upgrade to suit the existing needs.  The CBCS system has been introduced in the Government City College in the academic year 2014-15.  This system emphasizes on major flexibilities in the syllabus enabling the students to have more choice in choosing the electives etc.  In this juncture the staff members of Department of Botany planned to arrange a common platform for teaching staff of different colleges adopting CBCS system to exchange the ideas with the elite staff of other institutions and to imbibe best features in our curriculum and also to exercise caution to see that our students are not deprived of any advancements in the subject.  The main aspects discussed in this workshop include

  • Core papers offered by different colleges in Botany
  • Electives offered by different colleges.
  • Credits allotted
  • Any suggestions to modify the existing practical syllabus.
  • Any novel methods of evaluating students.
  • Suggestions in field trips.
  • MoU with organisations.
  • Project ideas for students....live projects if possible.
  • Any modifications in the records.

Outcome

The workshop was a grand success.  The senior teaching staff from different colleges have attended the workshop and exchanged their ideas.   Many new ideas of encouraging students academically have been floated in the workshop.  Ideas relating to practicals, project works and field trips were appreciated.
